Released on August 24, 2018, 'Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi' serves as a sequel to 'Happy Bhag Jayegi'. This film features Sonakshi Sinha stepping in for Diana Penty, presenting a narrative that reveals a truth many may not want to acknowledge: the people of China, unlike Pakistan, share similarities with us.
In a reflective interview, director Mudassar Aziz expressed that he has discovered his creative voice. He stated, 'If my previous film promoted peace with Pakistan, I am pleased. With this sequel, I aimed to create a light-hearted comedy that does not vilify our neighbors. It is essential to foster harmony globally. While we did not set out to draft another peace treaty through our films, we recognized that China, often viewed as a threat to India, was an uncharted territory for cinema, with few films having been shot there.'
Unfortunately, the filming of 'Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi' could not be entirely completed in China. Some scenes were filmed in China, while others were shot in Kuala Lumpur, which was portrayed as China in the film.
The director views cinema as a tool for promoting peace. He remarked, 'We frequently produce films that focus on terrorism, often labeling Pakistan as the traditional adversary. However, both Pakistan and China have rich histories beyond conflict. I hope audiences can appreciate the humor from the Chinese backdrop in 'Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi', similar to how they embraced the Pakistani elements in the first film. It is time to shift our focus from war to exploring peace through cinema.'
